Jamaica Kids

Imagine Jamaica Kids is an onsite, state of the art facility located in the Joseph A. Addabo Federal Building serving children 2 months to 5 years of employees of the Social Security Administration, other federal agencies and the surrounding community. The center has five recently renovated classrooms, full kitchen, library/literacy area and playground. In Fall 2012 we became a Universal Pre-K program for four year olds, offering 2.5 hours of funded instruction focused on Kindergarten prep aligned with the New York State Core Learning Standards. Since 2012 we have been contracted with the New York City Department of Education as a Universal Pre-K program for four year olds, focusing instruction on Kindergarten preparation aligned with the New York State Common Core Learning Standards. We have a full day UPK contract.

Hours of Operation: We are open 52 weeks a year, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., for both Full-time and Part-time care.

Facilities:
Our center has five classrooms, a large community kitchen, access to an auditorium for special events, an indoor/outdoor playground, and a library.

We are licensed by the Bureau of Child Care/NYC DOHMH, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and endorsed by Eco-Healthy Childcare.

Special Activities:
We take advantage of the many resources available in the greater Jamaica community, including the playground and green space at the Rufus King, Jr. , Park, which is located across the street from the center. We incorporate Spanish and American Sign Language as part of our language curriculum, as well as creative dance for our Toddler and Pre-school programs and yoga for Infants. We enjoy many field trips to destinations such as the New York Hall of Science at Flushing Meadows, Green Meadows Farm, and children’s programs at York College.
