Rolling Dice to Practice Number Recognition

Written by: Imagine Early Learning Centers

Games that involve taking turns help children stay engaged while learning. In this dice game, children practiced identifying numbers while building confidence and independence.

Materials Needed

  • Dice numbered one through ten
  • Markers
  • Dot paper

How the Activity Works

Children take turns rolling the dice. After identifying the number rolled, they find and circle the matching numeral on their paper.

What Children Are Learning

Children strengthen number recognition, hand eye coordination, and turn taking skills. Older children can extend this activity by rolling two dice and adding the numbers together.
