Laura Tulchin, Imagine’s Chief Strategy Officer, recently spoke with Bloomberg Radio on the importance of providing fair compensation and financial incentives to our credentialed and experienced teachers, while ensuring parents have access to an affordable daycare option.

We are starting to see the effects now of the end of pandemic era support from the federal government for child care centers. “There’s data coming out already that says nearly a third of families have reported that child care tuition has increased.” Imagine Early Learning Center’s Laura Tulchin says the child care industry is still feeling the pandemic’s effects.

“We’re actually almost arguably in a worse place than we were pre-covid.” Child care providers blame inflation and the Century Foundation say says without the pandemic funding, more than 3 million children could lose child care access with about 70,000 programs in danger of closing. “We see issues with Staffing. It’s it’s really hard to keep good teachers.” Experts say raising prices prices out some customers Tulchin says the Imagine Early Learning Centers think they have found a solution. “We’ve made it an employee owned company.” She says that’s incentive for good teachers to stay.
