Counting and Moving Through Play

Written by: Imagine Early Learning Centers

Movement based games help children stay engaged while learning early math skills. In this activity, children practiced counting and number recognition through a playful race.

Materials Needed

  • Rubber ducks
  • Magnet tiles
  • Dice

How the Activity Works

Children roll a dice and move their duck along a magnet tile game board. As they move, they count each space until reaching the finish line.

What Children Are Learning

Children practice counting, number recognition, and turn taking. The activity can be extended by rolling two dice or counting backward on certain spaces.
